Cheryl Cole Splits From Husband Ashley

8:22pm UK, Tuesday February 23, 2010

Kirsty Donald, Sky News Online
Pop star Cheryl Cole is separating from her footballer husband Ashley, her spokesman has confirmed.

The announcement came just hours after the X Factor judge arrived back in the UK from Los Angeles to face the ongoing rumours about her marriage.

She went to the US following tabloid allegations that her Chelsea and England player husband had been unfaithful.

The Girls Aloud singer's spokesman, Sundraj Sreenivasan, said: "Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole.

"Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time. We have no further comment to make."

The other four members of Girls Aloud are "supporting Cheryl in private", the spokesman added.

A Chelsea FC spokesman said: "This is a private matter for Ashley, but the club continues to offer him and his family all the support it can in dealing with it."

Sky's showbiz correspondent Steve Hargrave said the announcement was no surprise given the recent newspaper coverage.

"The statement says it's a separation but you could assume Cheryl will want to make it more permanent sometime soon," he added.

The Coles, who live in a £3.5m mansion in Surrey, met in 2004 and married two years later.

They survived an apparently difficult patch in early 2008 after claims of Ashley Cole's infidelity first emerged.

Cheryl's profile took off after the allegations with her role on The X Factor, an advertising deal with L'Oreal and a successful start to her solo career.

But the marriage was put under pressure again in recent weeks after reports of the footballer sending images of himself to other women.

Despite the rumours, Cheryl took to the stage at the Brits to perform her number one hit Fight For This Love before travelling to the US.

During her time in LA, the 26-year-old was pictured being comforted by American dancer Derek Hough, who appears in the video for her latest single.

Woman Convicted Of Killing Foster Kids And Storing Them In Freezer

Woman Convicted Of Killing Foster Kids And Storing Them In Freezer

By Associated Press February 23, 2010 10:17 am

ROCKVILLE, Md. – A Maryland woman who adopted three children despite a troubled past was convicted Monday of murdering two of the girls, whose bodies were stored in a freezer as the woman continued collecting payments meant to help with their care.

Renee Bowman, 44, kept the bodies of the two young girls on ice for months while she continued to collect subsidies paid to parents who adopt special-needs children in the District of Columbia, receiving a total of about $150,000 since adopting the girls.

The bodies were found after the third daughter escaped by jumping out a window. The girl, now 9 and living with new foster parents, testified in the murder trial last week about the abuse she and her sisters endured — being beaten with a baseball bat and shoes and choked until they lost consciousness.

The girl’s older sisters, Minnet and Jasmine Bowman, were both younger than 10 when they died, though authorities were never able to determine exactly when the murders occurred. Nobody knew they were missing, and there are no records the children were ever enrolled in school. Prosecutors said Bowman killed them while the family was living in Rockville and took the freezer with her when the family moved first to Charles County and later to Lusby, in Calvert County.

Bowman showed no emotion as she listened to the verdict — guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree child abuse. Jurors deliberated for about two hours.

Prosecutors said they would ask for life in prison without the possibility of parole when Bowman is sentenced March 22. Bowman’s attorneys did not immediately return a call seeking comment. She has already been sentenced to 25 years in prison in Calvert County for abusing the surviving girl.

Evander Holyfield Hits Wife, She Seeks Protective Order

By Hello Beautiful February 10, 2010 4:40 pm
Evander Holyfield
Evander Holyfield’s wife, Candi Calvana Smith, is seeking a temporary protective order against the boxer after accusing him of hitting her in the face, according to RadarOnline.

Candi Calvana Smith — Holyfield’s third wife — called the police after the couple got into a fight at their home in Georgia last week. She claimed that the deeply religious boxer accused her of being selfish when she complained that their children were too cold and that she should ‘put God first in her life.’

How to break free from domestic violence

The couple then continued to argue about payments made to their church and after she refused to show him pay stubs Candi alleges that Holyfield hit her in the face on the back of the head twice and on her back also.

Candi also claims that Holyfield has hurt her before and that he has been violent in the presence of their children.

Here are some high profile examples where women broke free from their abusive relationships:

Make-Up 411: Queen Latifah’s Super Bowl Look

Queen Latifahs Super Bowl Look

COVERGIRL Queen Collection and NYC based celebrity Make-Up artist and beauty expert Monif Mortis brough the members of Urban Beauty Collective Queen Latifah’s All American Super Bowl look.

Monif on Latifah

For the 2010 Super Bowl, I looked to Queen Latifah’s styling for inspiration. Queen Latifah was wearing a black and gold custom jacket with a black tank and dark wash jeans, so I wanted to compliment that look. Since the Super Bowl is held in such a huge

arena, it was also important to make sure that her eyes had smoky definition so all the fans could see her.

After rimming the eye with a simple black eyeliner, I applied a black eyeshadow to the outer corner and crease of the lids.

For a pop of color, a shimmery cranberry shadow was used in the center and inner corner of her eye lid.

To achieve a similar pop of color, I recommend applying COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plume.

COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Minerals Bronzer in Ebony Bronze to blend the two colors and warm the eye lids. I love Queen Collection Bronzer because it also absorbs oil on the face.

I also used the bronzer to enhance Queen Latifah’s warm complexion by applying it to the cheekbones and temples of her forehead.

Whether healthy eating is new to you or you’ve been trying to figure out how to get started, it will be helpful to know that there is a lot of research now to prove the health benefits of many foods. Check out what the author of Age-Proof Your Body says you should eat:

To up your odds of living a long and healthy life–despite occasional blow-outs at TGIF–make sure you regularly include these 7 nutritional powerhouses in your diet:

1. BERRIES
Why: Ounce for ounce, berries have more protective plant antioxidants than almost any other food. These compounds not only lower your disease risks, they help prevent memory loss.

How Much: Aim for a cup of berries–any berries, fresh or frozen–at least three times a week (berry researchers say eat a cup daily). Since berries are high in fill-you-up fiber, they may also help curb weight gain.

How:
Toss them in salads
Snack on them one by one, like healthy potato chips
Add them to yogurt, cereal, and smoothies
Stir them into anything you bake

6 diet supplement myths.

2. SALMON
Why: Sure salmon is a prime source of omega-3s, the healthy fats that fend off heart disease and maybe more, but are you aware that a mere 3 ounces of the fish serves up 170% of your daily vitamin B12 and more than 80% of your D

How Much: Aim for two servings a week (and if one’s tuna, that’s okay).

How:
Broil, bake or poach it with dill
Toss it into pasta dishes and salads
If you’re vegetarian or just not a fish-eater, get the key omega-3 fat called DHA in:
Silk Plus Omega-3 DHA Soymilk
Horizon Organic Milk Plus DHA
Oh Mama Nutrition Bars
Gold Circle Farm Eggs
Rachel’s Wickedly Delicious Yogurts

Disney first: black princess in animated film

NEW ORLEANS - The Walt Disney Co. has started production on an animated musical fairy tale called “The Frog Princess,” which will be set in New Orleans and feature the Walt Disney Studio’s first black princess.

The film, set for release in 2009, also is the first hand-drawn film Disney has committed to since pledging last month to return to the traditional animation that made it a worldwide brand.

“The Frog Princess,” a musical scored by composer Randy Newman, is “an American fairy tale” starring a girl named Maddy who lives in the French Quarter in New Orleans, said John Lasseter, chief creative director for Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.

Disney did not provide details of the plot, but the company showed shareholders preliminary drawings from the movie. Newman and a jazz band played a song from the movie’s score.

Maddy joins eight other Disney princess characters, who have generated $3 billion in global retail sales since 1999. Disney Princesses is the fastest-growing brand for the company’s Consumer Products division.

Disney introduced its first non-white animated heroine in 1992's “Aladdin”: a Middle Eastern character named Jasmine. Three years later an American Indian princess appeared in “Pocahontas.”

The creation of the Chinese heroine from “Mulan” came in 1998. Other Disney princesses are the main characters from “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.”

Disney aggregated the eight characters in 1999 under the banner Disney Princesses and has rolled out toys, books, clothing, furniture and other merchandise aimed at girls ages 3 to 8.

Disney chief executive Robert Iger said the company wanted to show its support for New Orleans, only partially rebuilt 18 months after it was flooded by Hurricane Katrina, by holding its annual meeting and setting its newest animated film in the city.

“The film’s New Orleans setting and strong princess character give the film lots of excitement and texture,” Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook said.

John Musker and Ron Clements, who co-directed “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and “Hercules” will co-direct the movie. The pair also wrote the story for the film.
